Gone are those days when we had to go to the neighborhood chemists to buy medicines. A handful of Indian healthcare start-ups are now willing to deliver them right at your doorstep. The rising acceptance of e-commerce among consumers in India has led to the emergence of niche healthcare portals in the country along with many other niche categories.
Bangalore based ClickOnCare sells products in a broad range of categories such as fitness & nutrition supplements, sports nutrition, health devices, personal care and baby care.
The blazing hot $2.8 Trillion health care market is receiving increasing attention from entrepreneurs around the world looking to improve a complex field.
The startup was founded from a 1 BHK apartment in Bangalore in 2013 by Akshat Malik, an army brat and a National Level Shooter from Delhi, finished his Masters in Business Administration from Christ University Bangalore. Akshat left his well-paying job at ING Vysya Bank to follow his dream of being an entrepreneur with both financial and moral support from his parents. 5 months into the business and the company was all set to hire its 1st employee.
Talking about the initial phase of the startup, Akshat says,
“Within 3 months I had to design (monitoring of outsourced work), prep & upload product data and test the site rigorously. When site was not fully ready by 9th June(Scheduled Launch), I was advised to delay the Launch, however, I was adamant on the date; Although this meant further slogging and bug fixtures for another 2 months, I later realized that I was running a Business and Problems are part of it”
Now is the best time in the history of the world to be a healthcare entrepreneur, and entrepreneurs like Akshat with fresh eyes on healthcare problems are making large and rapid clinical impact.
ClickOnCare seeks to fill the gap between the chemists and customers by providing access to every health related product starting from personal care to Health & Wellness devices to its consumers through the online shopping portal.
With over a hundreds of International Brands listed at ClickOnCare, the company delivers these products across 68000 Pincodes in India with Cash on Delivery to almost 7000 Pincodes.
“Our vision is to become the one-stop shop for everything that’s health, well-being and nutrition, in a way that we truly create the difference we’ve set out to create.” Akshat added.
The portal also provides services like complete health checkup, pathology services, lipid profile on the portal.
The nutrition market alone is about $ 2 billion in India and growing at 22-25 percent on year to year basis. The healthcare market is fragmented and offline retail alone cannot service the market and therefore startups like ClickOnCare sees a huge potential in the segment.
