Body and mind helps each other to achieve the impossible Body building has been known…
pH is a term that you might have heard in your primary classes, it stands for ‘potential hydrogen’. You might be surprised to know that this metric can give you quite a significant insight into your health and well-being. Life is often a balancing act and so is it for your body. The pH levels have a range of 0 to 14, the lower side being acidic, 7 being neutral and anything above that is defined as alkaline.
As a human being your blood’s pH should naturally be on a little alkaline side that is 7.30-7.45. If your lungs or kidneys are not working up to their best potential then it can result in an imbalance, if it goes on the acidic side it is called acidosis whereas if goes on the alkaline side it is known as alkalosis. Apart from these unhealthy imbalances, your body’s pH can wreak havoc in your body. For example, if your blood gets too acidic, your body will pull important minerals like calcium from your bones to neutralize the acidity, this can lead to bone health deterioration. There is also a study that establishes the fact that inflammatory diseases, autoimmune diseases, and cancer thrive in an acidic environment.
BALANCE IS THE KEY
As said earlier balance is the key, if your body gets too alkaline that can be bad too as the ideal pH of your bowel, skin, and vagina should be on the lower side whereas your saliva should be on the alkaline side. Your body regularly deals with acids as they are the by-products of respiration, metabolism, exercise, and cellular breakdown, so clearly too acidic or too alkaline are not the ideal pH we’re aiming for. A neutral pH that is slightly leaning towards the alkaline side is best for the body.
Our standard diet is full of acidic substances and foods like meat, dairy, highly processed food products, and refined sugar, though our body has the mechanism to neutralize them, it requires our body to work harder causing it more and more wear and tear. Our body may not give signs of deterioration soon but if we keep abusing it regularly, things will go down south sooner or later. Apart from unhealthy eating habits, environmental stress and tension can also cause pH imbalance.
So the next thing coming on your mind should be how do we incorporate a balanced pH diet with alkaline foods?
The answer is simple, you must increase your intake of leafy greens, wheatgrass, veggies, sprouts, avocados, green juices, and smoothies and reduce the intake of high pH food like animal products, processed carbs, refined sugar, energy drinks, etc. Having a glass of water with 2 tables spoons of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice will also very be beneficial as this will flood our bodies with alkalinity which will help in making the cells healthy, this will directly help in expulsion of all the acidic junk.
Imparting these will have a very positive impact on your body as this will help prevention of major health complications and will also help in the neutralization of free radicles.
